Tortuguero
3 Day 2 Night Expedition

What is Tortugeuro

Tortuguero, Costa Rica, which literally translates to Land of Turtles, is located on the Northern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. The beaches around Tortuguero are world renowned for its turtle nesting sites and for Tortuguero National Park. The Green Sea, leatherback, and Hawksbill turtle all nest on Tortuguero. Two biological stations can be found here; the Cano Palma Biological Research Station and the John H. Phipps Biological Field Station. Because of its remote location, Tortuguero can only be reached by boat or airplane.

Why Should I Go?

Why spend days traveling to the Amazon when you have Tortuguero so close? If you are looking for extreme diversity, bountiful wildlife and easy access, then look no further..... Tortuguero has it all!!!

Visualize a jaguar swimming across a canal or a manatee under your boat, monkeys, sloths, redeye tree frogs; this is the place to see it. If nature and wildlife are what you're looking for you are guaranteed to find it here.

What Should I Expect?

This journey takes you from San Jose to the Caribbean side of the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Along the way, stop for a delicious Costa Rican Breakfast; after which, your travels continue through banana plantations, ornamental plant fields, and passion fruit farms. The excitement mounts as you board a boat and travel twisting winding canals, observing sloths, birds, (some 309 species have been sighted), butterflies, and, of course monkeys!

The park is also home of the manatee, one of the animal species in the Caribbean most seriously threatened with extinction. The highlight of the trip is a tour of Tortuguero National Park, a biologically rich and diverse rainforest.

These tours are run by tour operators of Tortuguero. We have daily departures for this tour package.
