Arenal/La Fortuna
3 Day 2 Night Expedition

What is Arenal and La Fortuna ?

Arenal is Costa Rica's most active volcano, and one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world. It has been studied by seismologists for many years. Although the activity nowadays is less damaging, you can still see ash columns, underground rumbling, glowing orange lava flows and sudden explosions on a daily basis. With its perfect conical shape it allows breathtaking views of volcanic action in the summit. Almost every night the crater offers a spectacle of lights with its explosive eruptions. The volcano is located at the center of Arenal Volcano National Park in the northern zone of the country, 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) southwest of the La Fortuna district in San Carlos Canton, Costa Rica.[5] The temperature varies from 16 °C (61 °F) in the high areas to 24 °C (75 °F) in the low areas and the annual rainfall is around 500 centimeters (200 in).[citation needed] Arenal Volcano area is an important watershed for the Arenal Lake Reservoir. The reservoir's water is used for hydroelectric power. It is also connected to the national system. - Wikipedia

Why Should I Go?

Imagine soaking in a thermal hot water spring with a banana daiquiri in your hand enjoying the lava flows and the sizzling glowing rocks as they careen down the mountain. Nature, harmony, and comfort are what you can expect on an expedition to Arenal. If you enjoy world-class spas, volcanic eruptions, and sparkling waterfalls, you can't miss a chance to experience Arenal.

What Should I Expect?

Arenal also offers canopy tours, hikes, horseback riding, suspended bridges, and of course the Arenal Volcano night tour. We have many hotels and resorts to fit all budgets. Expect to see native birds, sloths, opossums, jaguar, peccaries, and coati.

If you add an additional night to this tour we can offer you a tour to the Rio Celeste. This is a challenging hike that takes you through Tenorio Volcano National Park. It is known for its distinctive turquoise colored water, a phenomenon caused by a chemical reaction between sulfur and calcium carbonate. At Rio Celeste expect a strenuous hike, a blast of nature, and dazzling photo opportunities.
